Try cutting the words apart(take the romaji lyrics) into parts you actually can say.

Trying saying it to yourself with the tune before actually trying to sing with the off vocal at full speed.

I did it kind of badly for this one, but I guess you could give it shot?

Sing the song however you want.
I was only suggesting switching tones as a way to make the song darker.

So, sing the together parts in your normal voice. : )
Or sing the whole song in your normal voice. ;D

Not really my place to say (I'm not taking part), but I definitely think it's more important to make the chorus sound as good as it possibly can than to get it done by Halloween. ^^; Erm, I'd love to take part, but I have a little too much on my plate atm. orz;

I know that it's best for the chorus to sound amazing over a due date, so I'll probably ending up extending it(the date I gave for the vocals being due is tentative). x)

I got a lot on my plate at the moment, so hopefully, everything will go smoothly. ;D
